Koo Koo Ku Hoo Lodge #161

Koo Koo Ku Hoo Lodge was originally founded as Ne-Pah-Win Lodge on July 7, 1939. The Lodge was the second oldest Lodge in both its section Area III-C, and in the state of Virginia. (Nawakwa Lodge #3 being the oldest.) The Lodge was chartered under Piedmont Area Council #594 headquarted in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Council served 14 counties in South-Central Virginia.
The Lodge's totem is an owl, his wings outstretched holding a symbolic arrow high over Deer Lake at the foot of Crawford's Knoll in the Center of Camp Monocan. The Lodge name translated means "Wise old bird of the forest". Koo Koo Ku Hoo Lodge served the Council well, with many hours of service at Camp Monocan in Nelson County, Virginia. The Lodge played host to Area III-C pow wows in 1960, & 1964. In 1973 Koo Koo Ku Hoo Lodge merged with Powhatan Lodge to form Tutelo Lodge.
