Powhatan Lodge was founded on June 18, 1951 at the
newly built Camp Powhatan in rural Pulaski County, Virginia. The Lodge
was chartered under Blue Ridge Council #600 headquarted in Roanoke, Virginia
and served 14 counties in Southwest Virginia. The Lodge was a member of
Area III-C and hosted Pow-Wows in 1957, 1963, and 1968. The Lodge also
hosted an Area III-C Training Conference in 1970. The Lodge's totem is
an Indian in a war bonnet. Several of the Lodge's emblems feature mountains
in the background, emblematic of the area in which the Lodge served. The
Lodge was very active rendering many hours of service to both the Council
and to the Reservation. In 1973 Powhatan Lodge merged with Koo Koo Ku
Hoo Lodge to form Tutelo Lodge.
